California, Pre-Determined (part 2)
I assigned non-artists to take photographs of their daily commute and life with cameras I provided for them. This system was set in place in order to see Los Angeles and greater California culture through a perspective other than my own and to remove myself from the burden of being an image chooser. These photographs of freeways and landmarks then determined the image I would be making a painting from. Making 70 paintings in total for this series, these abstract paintings investigate people being isolated from their environment.
